MEGÈVE SKI AREA - REDEVELOPMENT OF ROCHEBRUNE

This expected, ambitious and innovative project intends to respond to a double need: to make the area more rational in terms of facilities and to allow better benefit from the diversity of the area's slopes thanks to easier and more fluid transfer between the sectors of the massif. Rochebrune. The selected development consists of replacing four devices with two detachable chairlifts and a ski lift while minimizing the impact of the project on the natural environment.

This choice was the result of numerous studies, and more particularly independent and precise studies on the impacts on fauna and flora, dealing with each of the protected species inventoried on the site. Variants that did not make it possible to significantly limit the impacts on these species were thus ruled out, and the chosen development was justified on the basis of its viability over a horizon of more than 30 years. The State services in charge of the environment have thus underlined the rigor of the approach and the quality of the project in environmental terms.

The delivery of the project, initially scheduled for December 2023, was ultimately somewhat disrupted. Indeed, once all administrative authorizations had been obtained, the work could begin in spring 2022. But, although very advanced, it had to be stopped following appeals filed by associations, particularly from Grenoble.

All the teams at the Megève Ski Lift Company, fully involved in this project, are continuing their efforts to see it come to fruition soon.

Rochebrune sales point's and station's lifting

A large lifting if coming for Rochebrune cable car. For 2020/21 winter season, the sales points and waiting rooms will be entire renovated. These buildings works will be finalised in December 2021 and cabins will be changed.

New Rochebrune cablecar cabins
december 2021

This is the last summer for the 24 years old Rochebrune’s white cabins. Next autumn, brand new red cabin with a « retro » and « historical » style will be taking place. This will end the Rochebrune cable car renovation.

Caboche gondola rew cabins - December 2021

Next winter, Caboche gondola will be renew with new cabins with an inedit design and options. Please notice that a new draglift « Cry draglift » will be open linking Planellet village to the Mandarine slope on Mont d’Arbois side.
