MEGÈVE SKI AREA - REDEVELOPMENT OF ROCHEBRUNE
This long-awaited, ambitious and innovative project aims to meet a dual need: to make the area more rational in terms of facilities and to make better use of the diversity of slopes in the area thanks to an easier and more fluid transfer between the sectors of the Massif de Rochebrune. The development chosen consists of replacing four devices with two detachable chairlifts and a ski lift, while minimizing the impact of the project on the natural environment.
This choice was the result of numerous studies, and more particularly independent and precise studies on the impacts on fauna and flora, dealing with each of the protected species inventoried on the site. The variants that do not significantly limit the impacts on these species have thus been ruled out, and the development chosen has been justified on its viability over a period of more than 30 years. The State services in charge of the environment have thus underlined the rigor of the approach and the quality of the project in environmental terms.
The delivery of the project, initially scheduled for December 2023, was ultimately somewhat disrupted. Indeed, once all the administrative authorizations had been obtained, the work could begin in the spring of 2022. However, these, although very advanced, had to be stopped following appeals filed by associations, particularly in Grenoble.
All the teams of the Megève Ski Lift Company, fully involved in this project, are continuing their efforts to see it succeed soon.
